John Duffy Sr. has been providing luxury home building, renovation and property management services to the Greenwich, CT and Fairfield County communities for over 40 years. It all started when John completed his business management studies in college in Ireland. His U.S.-based uncle invited John to come and work alongside him.

John’s uncle was running a successful carpentry business in Fairfield County, and John saw an opportunity to learn a skilled trade from an experienced professional. He also saw the potential to eventually draw on his college experience in business management. John’s uncle was a skilled craftsman who took great pride in attention to detail. His philosophy of high-quality construction and his diligent work ethic were an inspiration to John.

In 1983, John struck out on an adventure to the U.S. and began what would become a lifelong career honing his craft in luxury home construction, renovation and maintenance in Greenwich, CT. Alongside his uncle, he learned the basics of the trade. As time went by, John’s entrepreneurial drive and business management know-how inspired him to take on larger projects. Before long, he was running expansive home construction projects of his own.

John understood that in the business of luxury home construction, excellent customer service and quality workmanship were essential elements to success. Eventually, boosted by his reputation for quality workmanship, he struck out on his own. In 1988, he founded Duffy Craftsmen Inc. in Greenwich, CT. The organization’s motto was “traditional quality with pride.” John took pride in his work, and it showed.

In those early years, John worked to achieve his general contractor license and steadily grew his company. He began building an in-house team and a network that included some of the most well-respected and skilled trades, including Fairfield County–area electricians, plumbers and HVAC professionals, among others.

In 1997, John met his wife-to-be, Rachel, and shortly thereafter, the organization began building high-end showcase homes. Duffy Craftsmen Inc. was soon the recipient of several best-in-class HOBI Awards for luxury home construction. Rachel had graduated with a bachelor’s degree in interior design and interior architecture. Her educational background proved to be an excellent complement to the business. The company soon expanded its core offerings to include full-design build services.

During the 2008 recession, the home building and remodeling industry slowed down. It was then that several Duffy Craftsmen Inc. customers approached John about property management work. He discovered there was broad demand for property management services across the region, where customers were looking for a partner to help manage their homes and vendors. John’s team, along with his network of Greenwich-area trades, was well suited to expand the business to include property management — they knew luxury homes systems and equipment inside and out. So John launched Duffy Home Solutions to meet this demand and provide luxury homeowners with one point of contact for all of their home maintenance and upkeep needs.

Since its inception, Duffy Home Solutions has grown organically. Homeowners gravitate toward John’s attention to detail and exceptional customer service. And they greatly appreciate the full spectrum of services that Duffy Home Solutions offers.

In 2022, John Jr. joined Duffy Home Solutions after studying business management in college. John Jr. showed an interest in home construction and maintenance at an early age, often joining his father on jobs. After his time at college, he joined the company full time and is now in a leadership role managing a wide range of property management contracts across Greenwich, CT. The team decided it was best to serve Greenwich exclusively. This way, they could provide more responsive and efficient service to their client base.

Father and son now bring complementary skillsets to the business. John Sr.’s wisdom, experience and management acumen pair excellently with John Jr.’s fresh ideas and understanding of today’s approach to customer service and business management. Duffy Home Solutions is now a multigenerational operation with deep roots in the community, and the future looks bright for years to come.
